The basement wall has come down

The previous owners of our house had installed a wall in the basement that divided it into two rooms (one they used as a very small game room and the other as a bedroom for their teenage son). Both rooms were just not working for us, so we decided to remove the wall and restore the basement to its original glory. Before we did anything (even though the owners told us they installed the wall) we had to make sure that the wall was not load bearing. That's the last thing we need in this house is to have the floor from above come crashing down. Living with Lindsay just recently had a great post about how to determine a load bearing vs. non-load bearing wall.

We determined that the wall was non-load bearing so we grabbed our sledge hammer and goggles and got to work.

Here is the wall before it came down.
It's amazing the things you can find when you remove a wall in your house. We discovered hidden wallpaper that hadn't seen the light in years. When we removed the walls in the master bedroom we found old school papers from the eighties.

The wall is gone!!!! Now we just have to clean up.
